The seat of the Museum was designed by Brunelleschi in 1432 and remained unfinished for 500 years. It is located in the so-called Rotonda Brunelleschi, the first building with a central plan of the Italian Renaissance. It was Cosimo I who wanted to complete the building to house the first Academy of Arts and Design.
Inside there are original works of art and documents from the Medici collections.
